About Me
My name is Zoe Lenzi Allaria -
I work as a professional dancer since 2016, and with a career spanning a decade I had the luck to be exposed to a multitude of experiences, which ultimately directed my passion towards the realm of Somatics, Care and Spirituality.
This realization led me to immerse myself in the study of Somatic Therapy and Healing spaces , always trying to deepen my understanding of the Body in connection to Mind, Spirit and Land.
I am moved by the understanding that Liberation starts from within our bodies and I am looking to do my part in helping people reconnect, reintegrate and remember the connection between our inner and outer ecologies.
I am interested in creating spaces for people to journey inwards and reclaim their territory.
The search for Integration and connection to Self, with the intention of being of Service is what excites and motivates me most.
My qualifications include:
Bachelor or Arts degree
Jikiden Reiki practitioner, trained under Master Takami Kamata
Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy certification program obtained at The Embody Lab school.
Introductory Herbal course by Herbal Academy.
Currently, I am training as a Somatic Movement Educator and Practitioner at the Body-Mind Centering School (Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen).
Alongside these studies, I have pursued countless workshops, courses and personal research deepening my understanding of Spirituality, Tarot and Dream Work; always seeking ways to weave these disciplines together and ultimately finding new ways to bridge this knowledge together with my realm of expertise: movement.
About the Work
The word Somatics comes from the Greek word Soma, which simply translates to “(living) body” but really implies more than just our physical vessel, deepening the meaning to convey the Body living and experiencing its Wholeness.
Somatic work reclaims the body as a source of Power, Wisdom, and Liberation, nurturing a relationship with the Self that resists the fragmentation imposed by oppressive systems.
Somatic practices understand that we are complex beings, which deserve support and deep listening on a multi-layered level.
By placing the Soma at its core, Somatic work goes beyond the physical understanding of body to include the Whole of our Being.
Somatic approaches focus on developing awareness of the body from within. Rather than seeing the body as something separate from the mind, we recognize that our thoughts, emotions, and life experiences are all deeply intertwined with our physical sensations and patterns.
At its most fundamental level, it represents the practice of connecting with your body’s lived experience, which includes the way it holds and processes experiences, emotions, memories, and the way it relates and works with the mind.
Why does it matter
- more on the power of Touch
Care work is extremely powerful in a time where disconnection and disembodiment are normal and encouraged states of being.
Care practices are fundamental and primal ways of rebellion towards systems of oppression, allowing us to regain power over our bodies and exercise showing up for each other in new, more human ways.
To help ourselves deal with everyday emotional distress and trauma, we have to come back to our bodies. Where emotions are stored, within our tissues.
One of the easiest and most effective ways we can start doing that is through conscious touch.
Touch fosters connection, reduces stress, and enhances feelings of safety, belonging and trust.
In infancy, touch is crucial for healthy development, influencing bonding and attachment.
In adulthood, it helps regulate the nervous system by releasing oxytocin, the "bonding hormone", the hormone that makes us feel connected, that stimulates our social engagement system.
Because the skin is the gateway, the portal which envelops our nervous system, as we touch someone else or are being touched by someone else, our nervous systems communicate and are able to influence and support each other in a process called co-regulation.
This is why healing through conscious touch and embodiment practices is so effective and so needed.
